First-Time Setup Checklist
Written by Russo β’ Updated: July 2025
Setting up Locanox for the first time only takes a few minutes, but each step matters. This checklist helps you configure your device in full privacy mode from the start, whether youβre staying offline or preparing to use the Private Online Mode later.
By completing these steps, youβll have a secure vault, working offline AI, and all the tools to explore Web3 privately.
β Initial Setup Steps
1. Install the Locanox App
Choose the APK (Android) or desktop installer (coming soon). Make sure to download from the official site: locanox.com
2. Disconnect from the Internet
For full offline privacy, turn off Wi-Fi or mobile data before launching the app.
3. Create a New Wallet
The wallet is generated locally with no server involvement. Itβs stored in your encrypted vault.
4. Download a Local AI Model
From the LLM directory in settings, select a supported model (e.g. TinyLLM, Mistral, or Phi2). This step may require brief online access.
5. Activate Offline AI Chat
Once the model is downloaded, you can interact with the AI offline anytime.
6. Secure Your Vault
Set a strong passphrase to encrypt your data. This secures all AI memory, wallets, and files.
7. Export Backup File (Optional)
You can export a .locavault file and store it in a secure offline medium (USB, SD card, or QR).
8. Stay in Offline Mode or Switch to Online Mode
You may stay fully offline or activate Private Online Mode to use encrypted chat, price feeds, or decentralized storage.
Tips
- Always verify file hashes if installing from USB.
- Never share your vault passphrase. Locanox cannot recover it.
- Use airplane mode to ensure no background connections.
